The Coachella Valley is where I have all my out of town girlfriends come for our yearly “Spa Weekend”. We usually retreat to the Spa Desert Springs at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert for a full 3 days of pampering and relaxation. My favorite treatment is always a body scrub. I try to do a different one each time, but I always seem to go back to “The Desert Journey” treatment. The scrub includes a full body experience with a neck and shoulder massage and a bit of reflexology, all the while balancing my “Chakras” and having a “Desert Rain” shower as the conclusion. I spend the rest of the day in my Spa robe, and linger by the pool. It is my favorite of all the Spas that I have experienced in the Coachella Valley thus far, but I have had other great experiences at other valley Spas as well.
To sit quiet is an unusual experience for me, one that I had at the Two Bunch Palms Spa in Desert Hot Springs. I chose to immerse myself in their famous “Mud Baths” the resort has on property, side by side with my best girlfriend. The Pearl Moss mineral rich clay and water feel like you are wrapped in a warm blanket. And after rinsing off, you can take a dip in the natural mineral pool that make s your skin feel like silk.
This is a very private resort, once known to be Al Capone’s desert hideaway complete with secret passages. I’m not sure if that rumor is true or not, but for a quiet, relaxing Zen like experience, Two Bunch Palms is like no other.

One of the only Conde Nast Traveler 5 star rated Spas in the Coachella Valley, is The Well Spa at the Miramonte Resort. They have a full array of Spa menu choices. Everyone I know who has been there raves about it, so of course, I had to try a treatment there myself. I chose the Desert Rain massage to relax my senses and calm my nervous system (as stated on their brochure). The massage encompasses several essential oils like winter green and marjoram which are dripped along the spine to boost immunity and reduce mental fatigue. I was still and very quiet for my 90 minute treatment, and it felt like heaven to me. I didn’t roam around the Spa in my robe like I normally do, but this is one Spa that I will be sure to come back to.
There are many Day Spas here in the Coachella Valley as well, and as the months proceed, I will share the experiences I have with them with you.
So don’t wait to pamper yourself, as our desert is rich with many incredible places to try different treatments and therapies.
